Book review – 100 Things Every Designer Needs to Know about People: Susan M. Weinschenk
We design to elicit responses from people. We want them to buy something, read more, or take action of some kind. Designing without understanding what makes people act the way they do is like exploring a new city without a map: results will be haphazard, confusing, and inefficient. This book combines real science and research with practical examples to deliver a guide every designer needs.
The reason why I have read this book is because I want to improve as a designer. I did not read the book physically but read it on the computer. Especially when I was on my way to school because I travel 4 hours a day when I have lessons in Groningen. The book mainly taught me properties that I didn’t know yet. At first I intended not to read the book, but 100 things are a lot! And the score on Goodreads was higher than a 4.
This book is useful for anyone who wants to become a designer and wants to learn the basics. But for designers who are already further in the field, this is not the book to buy.
